do you lose your other prescriptions when you get you card?

I've been trying to talk my dad into getting his card for a while now. He has had numerous back surgeries and is on permanent disability. He was told by someone that if he gets his card he will no longer be able to get his current prescriptions. (vicodin, morphine, and norcos) He says he'd rather smoke then take all of his pills, but he wants the option in case he's having a painful day. Has anyone else heard of this?

The pain pills make me sick if I take them as needed..the MMJ provides relief of about 75% of my pain...but sometimes I still take a Vicodine for severe pain...theres really no around it for me..I have several injuries and lots of metal & screws holding things together...but 30 a month is better than 120(pills)...good luck, and have him talk to his Doc. about it, mine was cool about me asking questions like this.
see ya

we're in northern michigan and the doctors up here seem to be pretty strict....he failed a drug test last year and is no longer allowed to see any doctor associated with our local hospital....he now has to drive 45 minutes away to see his doctor and they do random drug tests.....if he comes up positive, the doctor said he will no longer give him any prescriptions.....perhaps if he has his card they will no longer be able to do that?
