i have a plant thats 12 inches tall,and i have another thats the same age and its bout 10 inches tall, and i have another one thats 4 days older and its bout 6 to 7 inches tall. i just want to start the flowering phase already. here are the pics. also do u think i should move them closer to my hps?they are bout 22 1/2 inches away from my hps.. i had them bout a foot away and a couple top leaves got really dry and brown. so i cut them off.

My 400w HPS is closer than that and i dont get heat issues.Hows ure ventilation ?
You might wanna have a fan blowing gently across the top of them and they should be ok.
The light can be as close as you can get without the light burning your hand if u put it at top of the plants.
They look good for vegging with hps.

Flowering anytime. they will get bigger.

no i vegetated with t12 flourescent lights..i have the hps i just kicked in today for flowering

I did just notice that your plants leaves have drops of water on them, are you misting while the lights are on? Because that'll burnt he shit out of your plants and could be why the leaves are burnt to a crisp.

You can't mist whilst lights are on, the water will magnify the light and result in cripsy dead leaves.

Bud away....... If you leave then in 2hrs of darkness when you switch over to the 12/12 regime it will make then bud faster.. I left mine in 36hrs adn they started budding within a week I believe it was opposed to the normal few weeks..

that happen to me to in my first few vegs. Now I dont spray them with anything but neam oil and thats very rarely
