Do people use slide cone pieces because it stops the cherry being popped?

I can see the point of not getting ash all over you, but is that why some people use bongs with a slide?

Ive honestly never owned a water bong with a carb they have all had sliders on them. Only water pipe I have ever owned with a carb was a Sherlock bubbler.

Im not sure but ive always hated carbed bongs. I like the bubbly inhale. But i know for a while to sell "water pipes" in certain states/countries to other states/countries they couldnt have a slide on them and had to have a carb like a pipe.

besides the obvious reason that stationary bowls are a bitch to empty, using a carb hole continues to cherry the bowl and it wastes more weed. you can never really clear a bong with a stationary bowl unless it's on the small side. stale smoke tastes like ass.

some stoned asshole always tries to tip the bong to scoop out the ash and dumps putrid water everywhere. how the fuck are you supposed to empty those bowls anyway?

that's exactly what I use to use as well.. I worked for a local hospital dist center and had access to tons of them.. (they made awesome box cutters too esp the hooked ones)
