i had a hydro kit similar to that and nothing like that ever happened. my roots were always like a white brownish. you deffenatly need to put some fresh water in your res, and i dont know how much nutes your using or if you have any circulation in the res but you do need a pump circulating the res water, and you can through some air stones in there too. hope it helps.

yeah, you definately need an airstone. I'd also suggest setting your plants aside someplace safe for a little bit and cleaning out your res, by which I mean dumping it, scrubbing it out inside and out with bleach water and restarting your nute bath. Just from the pic I'd say it's algea or some type of fungus. Are all the holes in the lid of your tub blocked so that no light is getting inside?

Also, the date on that pic is back in February... I'm assuming the clock on your digital camera is wrong but if not have you really been letting your plants go like that this whole time?

Thats a first seeing something like that. I like most the answers since we dont have all the info here but. I assume its a drip system with a dwc res. So like they all said you need massive air bubble to oxygenate the water and keep it moving or algae will form and water will be a death swamp. air stones pumps maybe even a small water pump just running in the watre to keep the flow of water in the tank in motion. Clean the res and fresh fill get all algae out.Good luck

After you get an air stone in your reservoir, put some hydrogen peroxide in the water, 1-2 tsp. per gallon.
It will keep the algae at bay and add oxygen to the water.
also clean your tank with some bleach and water to kill any algae left over.
change those once a week!

but make sure you clean with bleach and water before you refill and put plants back in.I know seems dumb to say that but Im learning you have to be specific on the boards with first timers would hate to see you post back after bleaching all the plants died lol sorry

All the same, dump the res, clean the tub, put new water & nutes in, add hydrogen peroxide as was suggested, put in an airstone. It's difficult to ascertain just looking at that picture the exact maladay you're suffering but the advice given you is all good regardless of the problem. After taking these steps it's possible this problem will go away. If not, and the plant suffers and is dying, the humane thing to do would be to lay it gently to rest and start another seedling. If one plant has a problem like this, chances are any other plants near it will be susceptible as well.

I spent several months growing various types of vegetable plants in different hydroponic setups before settling on one particular style. I wanted more experience under my belt before going through the trouble of getting seeds and starting a good grow. Maybe you should try some peppers, tomatoes, peas, etc. to get some more experience. Experiment with growing and learn from your mistakes as well as your successes. Once you've got a feel for growing, your grow setup, your grow space, etc. then pop in some magic seeds and see what happens. Don't be discouraged if your plants just aren't doing their thing, man. This is how we learn. The more of us who take the time and effort to learn, the fewer of us there will be attached to the strings of the government anti-cannabis puppetteer.
