This isnt my pic but saw it and knew thats the bug I have. Theyre only on the leaves, and easy to kill by hand (I only have a few plants) Its snowing outside, and dont understand how they got inside as I dont garden or anything.

Theres not that many of them. What should I do? Never had a serious bug problem.

I have only gotten them once, and all I did was the same thing I did for fungus gnats, and that was to cover the top layer with sand, and then cover that sand with the blue (not yellow) sticky traps, got a small fan to blow gently on the undercarriage.
The sand probably isn't needed, it was more for gnats too, but it worked.
The fan is helpful, as they don't like wind, but not too much or it'll burn your leaves.
I never got them bad though, so who's to say if that works for bad infestations..

I had the blue sticky traps in hand, and tapped the plant and they all fly away, and then some will settle on the traps, do that a bunch and you can minimize the issue a lil

Thrips can only effectively be killed with a chemical called Spinosad. It is an active ingredient in a product called Captain Jack's Dead Bug -which is readily available online or in most Ace hardware stores and many gardening shops.

Thrips can cause a lot of harm to your plants -wwwaaaaaayyyy more than gnats. Get rid of them asap!

How can they get in? Shoes, pets….basically anything.

Idk imo thrips r nothing to play with. However, they are easy to get rid of so that's the good news. You're going to need something with spinosad or something like that... I Think i used a Monterey product if I recall. Follow instructions and repeat a few times and you should be in the good.

Good luck

Ok Just wanted to confirm it was thrips. They havnt done much dmg at all, main plant with it is looking great actually.

I didnt see any flying tho. Been looking for spinosad but cant find any in my area for the life of me, seems like I have to order everything online. Thanks for everyones time.

Monteray garden insect spray. Usually two to three applications. Bottles 20ish bucks and does around 8 gallons or somthing like that.
Cant see the picture though.

Thrips would rather run than fly so you won't see a swarm like fungus gnats. they run away and they're pretty fast.
Any well stocked nursery center like lowes or home depot should have the monterey garden spray.
Also No Pest Strips do a very good job.

capt jacks is easier to find both equally effective. follow up with another treatment in 3-4 days. lights off after tretment.

Plants bounce back nicel, its amazing how thrips can hold your plants back

So im getting a bottle of captain jacks dead bug brew at lowes, Im going to spray it like 20min before lights on? I want these guys dead asap. Do I spray the whole plant top and bottom? How often?

are they in the soil too ? cos 2 or 3 gens they end up camping out in the rootball too

Yeah I soak them with ant stop

Look under the pots you may find some living in any damp bits of soil you have in your trays or the bottom of the pot, but the best way to be sure is to check the rootball, there really tiny, normally white but can be clear or a few colours

Spinosad takes them out pretty good
