JUst like the title im growing white widow and i have a ph meter but the guy at my hydroshop says i need a ppm meter too is it that necessary its 130 bucks..... thanks

Depends, do you use RO? I use RO, 0 ppm outta the machine, and dont worry about my ppm, just follow the feeding schedule included with all nutes.

And yes, I am growing in hydro and in soil.

I just thru a lemon haze plant into an aero bucket with straight shower water and lucas 15-10-5 formula for veg. I have a 20 dollar ppm that i did not even use but it works fine. I am trying out this low tech as I can. See what happens. I am using hardater micro tho.

My water is so damn hard I have no choice but to use r/o water. I used my tapwater and it killed some of my plants. As soon as I switched the problems went away.

If you want a ppm meter get a com-1 from amazon for $55. Great meter for the price and all you need.

the ppm meter measures the strength of the nutes, now ask your self 'Do I need to know how strong my nutes are?" the answer for most people is yes. after one burns their plants, they are more likley to purchase a ppm meter. that said, $130 is twice as much as you need to spend.

sorry im a newbie what ppm do the water gotta be ....cuz i saw one of those 20$ ones ur talkin about so if can help plz bongsmilie

my r/o water is usually between 16-18 ppm never 0.

im in soil always, and my growing practices did not change at all when i picked up the ppm meter. it was a total waste of money for me. (unless you consider it valuable to know the ppm of my water, it did let me know that)
