Yep. If you find your house is being bombed by the smell, then do get a filter. My four little plants when I open the tent make the whole floor they're on smell like a skunksplosion.

Carbon filter? no, not of smell isn't a concern. However, in a garage I'd probably still run some kind of particulate filter on the intake side to keep dust and dirt from being pulled into the space the plants are in.
