Haven't started growin yet. I have 2 150 watt hps lights. Can I just plug them into a power strip? Or do I absolutely have to have 2 ballasts for the lights? Otherwise I'm just going to plug both of the lights into a power strip.
Do I even need a ballast for my 2 150 watt hps lights?

yah, unless you have a hood with a built in ballast, your going to need a ballast.. if you only have two bulbs and mogul sockets, you're still going to need a ballast to fire the hids..
cfl's come with their own built in ballasts, which is what makes them nice for a lot of people..

I'm pretty sure the lights already have built-in ballasts. I think I just answered my own question

no you didnt. do you understand? you need a ballast for hps lights. or any h.i.d. (high intesity discharge lights).
you do not need a ballast for cfl lights, witch are compact floresent lights.. you knew that right.

Yes. Both of the hps lights have built-in ballasts in them. I understand now. I already knew CFL's had built-in ballasts
