Do buds need light?

I'm just started flowering my first grow and i was wondering if the buds need to be directly in the light. In a lot of spots there are fan leaves that cover up the flowers. Is it more important for the buds to be in the light or for the leaves since they make food?

The parts of the plant will work it out among themselves. Just keep good light of the right spectrum overhead, and perhaps add some on the sides.

thanks, i figured it wasn't a big deal since i haven't read anything about it. I have this thing surrounded by lights so i'm set there.
