Do all mylar grow tents smell like plastic/chemicals when used?

I just got mine today, a 32x32x63 inch grow tent and I can smell the inside, though nothing is actually burning. I have a 600 watt MH light on an Apollo ballast. Thanks

isn't that just the "new" smell? lol kind of like a new car.. i'm not growing in a tent but i can say that the plastic stunk out of the box.

It most likely is that new smell. i remember hearing about those tents whos poles were contaminated or painted with paint that wasnt uv resistant or wasnt meant for high temps and would emit toxic gases. but im more than positive theyve gotten rid of those and that design. so dont worry!

Also if your bulb and ballast and basically whole setup is new its probably the combination of that plus everything smells more when its warm.
