High all!
Am having to start from seed since what was supposed to be female turned out to be a male. :(
I have no seedling soil so....

If I just flush a dixie cup of FFOF with some distilled water... That should do it right?
What ppm should i shoot for?

Thanx guys!

Hi how are you, I sometimes run into this issue do you have any peat moss or mulch around you could ground up, or possibly some garden dirt. As you said your starting a seed, it will be fine till to up pot using soil from right outside your door. MD.

I have a bean in one of these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rapid-Roote...775757?hash=item19eba70c0d:g:hD0AAOxyaTxTTiy9

Its just sitting in the bottom of an empty dixie cup with plastic wrap over it and holes poked in it sitting atop a warm surface.
It would be easier and less conspicuous if i can just flush out some FFOF i already have rather than digging around in the yard.
I guess 25ppm or less? would be ok? FFOF initial runoff measured 175ppm.

As soon you get the ffof ppm down microbial activity will just spike it back up. I've never used ffof, so I'm just guessing there are too many amendments in it.

Like @moondance said, get some peat. Or coco coir. I'd mix either of the two with perlite to make it airy and loose. You want your starter mix to be airy and loose to promote rapid rooting.

You may be able to find peat and perlite on sale at Walmart right now.

Fox Farms Ocean Forest (FFOF) is too hot for seedlings, as are all other regular potting soil mixes. it will kill it.

I'm sorry, but you guys should really keep your pissing match of this person's thread. No one's going to learn anything worth while this way.

Plenty of people on this site have already proved the worth of ffof. You can mix the amendments yourself and get more consistent results, but ffof is probably about the closest your gonna get right out of the bag.

And yes, weed does grow easily. but if you just throw it in a bucket of dirty from your back yard with no alterations I doubt you're going to be very pleased with your results.
