Ive have some muratic (hydrochloric) acid already but was wondering if I should buy a bottle of phosphoric acid. Its my understanding that commercialnph down is just diluted phosphoric acid

Thanks !

Pretty much, that's all it is.

I do a DIY pH down using battery acid solution. Sulfuric acid. Bear in mind, this is the solution and NOT full strength. Using pure or full strength is a whole new ballgame.

I would have prefered phosphoric acid, but it wasn't easy to locate and working with pure or nearly pure acid is just something I didn't want to do.

Thanks wetdog saw a liter of 83% phosphoric for $20. That will make like a decade worth of ph down. I have heard people using muratic acid despite the fact that it does at a little chloride to the Rez. But its such a small amount I can see where it could be harmful. Over the counter ph down just seems soo stupid to me. $11 for a pint? come on

Vinegar is for douches not my Rez.

some anti-freeze mixed with WD-40 is a good PH-Down.. it Reallllly brings it down.

Fucking WHAT??? :spew:

Phosphoric acid is what GH uses as a pH down. TechnaFlora uses Nitric Acid.

Citric Acid (lemon juice) works well enough for soil grows.

For Hydroponics I'd recommend you imitate the pros.

You can get the battery acid for ~$7 and the correct mixing is readily available.
