Thats fine, unless you live in a northern climate where snow happens. You'll be the only house with no snow in the roof. I know from experience. Lol

Bad idea you don’t want a moldy attic, I exhaust out my dryer vent, it exhausts out the crawl space.
If odor is a security issue you need a filter. You can buy one or build one but the only way to control it is to filter it through something that can capture volatile organic compounds like activated carbon.
depending on the size of your grow space carbon filters are fairly inexpensive to buy and probably even cheaper to build(saw one made out of a coffee can on YouTube, didn’t pay close attention to the details though because I had a filter)

I cut a 3.75" hole in the sub flooring, mounted 12" length 4" dia. PVC pipe with screens on both ends to catch bugs etc. Put dryer duct over that running from my carbon filter setup. Works great and gets rid of most of my heat as well.
if on a budget, ebay sells activated carbon just need to find a way to make a filter (like an empty CLEAN can of tomatoes from walmat's bulk item isle and then still at walmart, craft section, buy the furniture white liner).

Gorilla filters (thicker than the rest)
and finally, Airbox Stealth edition... (the most surface area of any CA based filter and the filters are replaceable BUT with the price to match).
