So, I've been thinking about putting together my own DIY QB light and have run into the heatsink part of the design.

I'm looking to run (3) 288 V2 (HLG 240H 54A), in parellel, in a 2'x4' tent, and would like to mount them all on one plate.

Has anyone ever tried an aluminium sports bleacher plank? What are the cheap methods people use for large heatsinks? The 288 is (9")x (9") so I was looking for a (36")x (10"-12") plate but can't find my typical cheap online workaround. I mean, its just aluminium, thin and lightweight too (cheap shipping), I can't see myself pay extra without asking if there's a sensible alternative first...

Any ideas on cheap heatsinks/dissipators?

You can already purchase a heatsink for 3 x 288 boards off HLG or alibaba separately.
You can also look at 800 fogro boards that use a similar heatsink; Meijiu sells them pretty cheap.

Throw a link up?

I can't seem to find a 3x or what they cost?.. I found a 2x and 4x but it was $249+.. Hoping to find a cheaper route.

So far my DIY costs are pretty comparable to the retail price of the same thing.

There's gotta be a way to DIY cheaper than retail, or at least that's what I'm used to.

Would like to try this out on a 4'x4' but 8 heatsinks gets spendy..

If its only 100ma per diode max (.3w) or 85ish watts per QB, could you just mount a cheaper costing fan without the heatsink? Just add some spacers for air flow and connect all 3 QB's with some angle aluminium or architectural channel?

I had good results cooling 4 boards @240ish total watts, just using a 3mm thick, 14" x 40" alu sheet, which i bought locally for about 15€. If you find you need much more surface just slap some u-channel on with thermal glue. Fans also work fine but havent tried it at 80 watts.
