can i use distilled water on plants? does it help any or could it be bad cause theres no trace metals

It will work,but try catching some rain water,you cant go wrong with good old mother nature! P.S. read the growfaq; lots of good info in there

Distilled is fine. it *should* have a pH of 7.0

As for the trace metals and such, thats what the nutes are for.
