Distance from Lights?

Hello!

The setup I currently have kinda restricts me from being able to have lights to which i can change the distance from the light to the plant...

I Have Mounted Long tube flouro's about a ft away from the plants

Is it neccasary that I have to move the light away during certain stages of the growth? My Lights dont produce to much heat, the heat right now in dead winter is staying at around 65-75 F

The plants are liking it right now... But in time to come... that is the ?

I Think i'm just gonna buy some CFL's... But the problem with that is I Dont have a bunch of Light socket extentions.. **

My setup seems to be working good... but i dont want my babies to die in the future :(

think about it dude. when your plants reach the lights they will get all messed up because they wont have anywhere to grow :o

As long as you keep moving up your lights regularly, it is better to keep your fluorescents within a couple inches of the tops of your plants.

[edit] I see now for some reason you cannot move your lights[/edit]

I would upgrade to a more powerful light if you have it a foot away from the plants.

That's where cloning comes in my friend ;)

I Got about... 2ft tall a box to work with... So my plants are good... I "CAN" Adjust the light, but within that box...

I Put the light on strings*Tuff*, and the strings loop threw hooks i've mounted in the box.

I Was just wondering is it a Nessessity** To have the lights moved... So whats the basic info on what i should do what my lights? Keep them as far from the plant as possible, or just have it a ft max close to it?

If you're using flouro's you'll want them about an inch away from the tops of the plants. Don't expect much yield using flouro's. Lights can be moved. Are you in soil? If so, plants can be moved too. Hydro, stand the tray on something. If you prefer to move the plants this is an option too.

Ok, Well I Should Move the Lights Closer to my sprouts?

I'm doing soil, and water my plants 3 times a day with Snow water from outside (Perhaps co2 trapped within snow particles.. High idea :p), The extra water is flowed out threw the wholes in the bottom of my plant container

Mmmk... Is this alright?

Ohh and I'm gonna be getting a diff light for the flowering... Perhaps CFL's

k you want you're fluro's an inch away and as they grow move ur light an inch away from the tops... untill 2feet ur maximum height... then get 5+cfl's Lights and sockets u can get from wall mart for like 9 bucks a peice for 45w CFL's the ones u need it has to be WARM LIGHT CFL's and the sockets are like 2 bucks or somthing.... place them around ur plant so u have light reaching the lower branches.... have 3 at the canopy so the whole plant
gets light... if i were using CFL's id buy 10 of them... and have 5 on each side accordingly... so the whole plant gets light but you said "plants" hence more then one plant... you will need alot of CFL's to get decent yeild off of one... and more then one plant cant grow in a 2foot box... i have a 4 cubic foot box that would be good up to 4 plants... SOG 1 plant per square foot...

Yes much closer. Again, don't expect much yield.
What effects the Yield size?

Whats the method to grow a huge yield..?

Once it gets warm, my babies should be grown pretty nicely, i'm gonna let them sit outside during the day, by the time it reaches 6 pm i'll take em out of the sun, sit them in the container till 12, then let them go over night again, and let them outside... I Believe they will be fairly healthy

My biggest sprout so far.. has been slowly gaining size the past few days... The leafs on it are almost a metallic green with metallic spots all over it, kinda like plant freckles, they look pretty good, I just still need to improve my grow space.. it's really good growing conditions right now... just the light, and perhaps the temp effects too

Lots of light actually hitting the plant is best for big yeilds. Generally a high pressure sodium or metal hallide produce the best yeilds. A mix of cool and red lighting for Seedling-vegetative is good for the plant, not sure if it affaects the actual yeild. CFL's are a great cheap substitute which work extremely well. I hope you are not planning on flowering with regular fluorescents.

Flowering you want loads of red light which is best produced by high pressure sodium lights. The correct and careful adding of nutrients in the water during flowering also potentially increases yeild.

I'm stealth growing inside, too cold for my plants outside right now.. with the snow and all.

The box I Have them is getting fresh air constantly... So the air isnt a real big problem, I Have Air purifiers blowing air towards the plants, along with a fan to blow in fresh air.

I Think i'm just being impatient... I just want my plant to grow and look perdy like everyone elses :)

I Think my first plant that I planted... I MIGHT have to abort it... It doesn't seem to be growing... Well.. VERY slowly if it is... it's been about 2 weeks since germinated... Still a Healthy Sprout... The others around it are just sprouting, and looking great at that.

I Will move my light closer though, perhaps that will help ;)

Yield size doesn't really matter to me.. I'm not trying to sell the stuff... Just for personal use.. I'll just keep on flowering clones for a while...

Where do you get these red lights?
How much are they?
How much much $$ will it cost...?

Well if you want fluorescent, I bought a couple at Wal Mart for really cheap. Rated at 3000k and 4100k.

None of this talk about light is gonna mean shit if you don't stop watering the plants three times a day. They will all be dead before you move the lights. You need to do some research. Relax. We will tryand help you, we won't try to waste your money and if you don't get a big enough yield you won't have enough to smoke. Welcome to the forum Silent
