Distance from light, pics

Does this look alright for brand new seedlings?

400w MH, temp is aboot 85 degrees at the lip of the cups.

its probably okay, but i dont prefer to put HID lighting on seedlings until they have like 5 nodes.(just my preference) make sure to vent that hood with a squirl fan or something even if the vent doesnt leave the room, itll still pull air away from the bulb and the plants underneath.
 
Man I tried twice with my 8 bulb T5 and wasted some expensive seeds. I went back to HID cause ive done it successfully once before.

The first time I had the fluoro 2 inches from the lip of the cups, destroyed, the second time, they were this distance from the tops:

They did not get any bigger than that, they straight got DESTROYED! Id much rather use my T5 setup as I hear it is IDEAL for vegging and doesnt heat my entire apt.

Ill get some venting going. I posted the pics of my fluoro setup incase anyone has suggestions as to why that failed twice.

This pic can't blow up anymore but they are a few day's old on a 12/12 from seed.
