Dipping cuttings into wax?

So I was reading through a book I have and it gives it's version of the best way to root cuttings. It says to take it and dip the cutting in "wax" then take the bottom part of the stem and apply rooting hormone and insert into medium. It talks about how this incubates the plant and reduces stress. Has anyone heard of this? If you have how legitimate is it? And what the hell kind of wax is it... I couldn't imagine taking my cuttings and dipping them into hot wax. I'm guessing there may be a special plant wax of some sort that melts at a really low temperature or something... I dunno. Anyway, yea any help will be greatly appreciated. Take care.

lol yeah why would u dip the cuttings into wax wouldnt that kill the plant???

*EDIT* well now that ive acually read the post lol i see what u mean do some research on it and enlighten us with ur maledge (marijuana-knoledge= maledge)

Wouldn't the wax seal the end? The the tip could not take in any water or hormones. I dunno, sounds weird to me, lol.:peace:

Ok, so the book is called "The Good Bud Guide" by Albie.

I did a little research and found a person post from a different site that didn't understand the books method either. I never would have guessed I would find that Albie himself had replied and answered the question. Well, it could have been someone claiming to be him, but it sounds legitimate.

"Glad to hear you're enjoying "TGBG".Wax is a product that comes as concentrate or ready to use dilluted.Commonly used when turf/grass is laid.Wax is sprayed over the area of new turf which dries and acts exactly the same as a propigator. It prevents transpiration while the roots are forming. It lasts for approx.2 wks before beginning to breakdown completely by the third week and by this time the roots/rhizones are fully established. You only apply once.Do not foliar feed at all and definately do not place cuttings into propigator after waxing.Simply place on an open tray under fluorescents,24hr lights on cycle and keep the mdium damp, not wet."
All the best,albie

My only question now is where to buy the WAX. I would sign up under the forum, but the post was made back in February of 2007... Damn, if anyone can help me out please let me know. Hope this info helped someone.

Powder works best with soil, I'm using rockwool... I have had a much better survival rate using the rooting gel than I did when I used the powder.
