Dinafem Blue Kush Auto

Howdy everybody, this is my first go at Autos, and for my first I chose a Dinafem Blue Kush Auto that was a freebie from attitude (Once I get a hang on autos I have 5 Kannabia Auto Hobbits I am gonna go nuts with, but I hear Kannabia can be finnicky so I don't wanna start with them). So here goes. Feel free to chime in with comments/advice!

DSC01868.JPG

Strain: Dinafem Blue Kush Auto (Blueberry Auto x OG Kush Auto)

Medium: Dr Earth Pot of Gold Soil in 2.5g Pot, with nutrient dense layer in bottom half of pot (Inspired by super soil) and added perlite and water crystals to improve soil structure and prevent over/under watering.

Nutrients: Growmore Rose Food 4-6-2, Kelp Meal, Bat Guano, Humic Acid, Azomite, Aspirin, Orange Peels, Coffee Grinds, Black Strap Molasses, Myco.

Lights: LED/CFL

Progress So Far:

1/2/15: Seed put in Germination Bag (Ziploc Bag, Cotton Makeup Removal Pads, Water, Hydrogen Peroxide)

1/3/15: Seed cracked open. Will transfer to Jiffy Peat Pellet tonight.

So far I am very happy with the speed it germinated at, clocked in at under 36 hours. We'll see how quick it exits the jiffy pellet. Will try to plant the pellet in the pot before roots exit the pellet to prevent potential root damage when planting. Not sure if I will go straight into the soil or if I will make a little crater of perlite to give the roots some growing space before they hit the soil since this Pot of Gold seems a little hot.

I got the same freebie... did you get the Christmas deal and ufo?
Yes sir! :weed:
I sprung for two holiday promos, the Attitude xmas special (Made it to 4th tier UFO too), and NGR's SinCity New Year (Which hasn't arrived yet but I am confident it will), because up til now I've only been growing bagseed, figured it was time to have some good genetics on hand.

The non-freebies I bought were:
5pk of Kannabia Auto Hobbit (Attitude)
5pk TH Seeds Mendocino Madness (Attitude)
16pk Kaliman Cheese Quattro (Attitude)
5pk AlphaKronik genes Heisenberg Kush (NGR)
5pk LaPlata Labs Quin n Tonic (NGR)

Same here! I have a couple choices once it gets older, mainly some LED's of various styles, but I have a while to decide since it's going into the same veg area as my little 9 bagseed experiment so there's already plenty of light bouncing around. If I get the motivation I am gonna be building a DIY led panel, I have most of the parts but it still seems very complicated and I am very lazy, so I'm probably gonna go with a 400w vipar reflector style panel that I picked up for ~$100 in an auction with some CFL thrown in for supplemental. It's no a51 but I think it will do the job, and I just didn't have it in my budget for even a 75w led from one of the big boys.

It won't let me edit my first post to add this, so the picture of the cracked seed will just have to go here.

ill send you some candles for side lighting, it'll be fine. subbed. I'm ashamed to admit that i never was one for trying to make my own lights. and I've followed a couple train wrecks on here with diy leds that made me think twice. still a hps diehard but i absolutely love led for veg. great plants every time.

If I had the space/electricity I would be running HPS or CMH, but my indoor setup leaves much to be desired, really just to get me through til the next outdoor season haha. Glad to have you along for the ride!

you don't know that for sure yet, i have turrets every now and then and post things like the above picture of germinating seed looks like, well the opposite of a phallic photo. kinda looks like a bag of white woman vajay-jay with a swimmer on the lip. just sayin. if i saw it on a Rorschach test id blurt out snow white. can't wait for more photos lol.

Still waiting for the seedling to pop out of the peat pellet, in the meantime I got the pot ready for it. Decided to go with the crater of perlite to give the roots some low-nute space to grow before they hit the hot soil.

Also, instead of CFL I think I'm gonna veg under this 54w Blue and White e27 base LED, I am really liking it after a few weeks of testing, great lux numbers in the spotlight for such a low power draw (Probably less than half the 54w)

looking good! do you know what size diodes those are? they look like decent 3w. have been looking for solid all blue ones (450-460nm) but can't seem to snag any up. that aren't crap china diodes, I would like some cree ones. could you show me a couple pics of it on? Im' looking into getting 4 of those for my veg room to go with my t5s.

Absolutely! They are 3w diodes, supposedly Bridgelux, here are the stats I was supplied with (Although I would always maintain a degree of skepticism)
18pc x 3w Bridgelux LED
Power: 54w
Luminous Flux: 3240-3780lm
Beam Angle: 60 degrees
Spectrum: 6pc Blue 460~465nm; 12pc Cold White 6500~12000K
Certification: CE & RoHS

Also would like to note that even after running it for 20 hours straight it is still only warm to the touch, can keep hand on it as long as I want without burning, the heatsink design seems to work very very well.

Here are some pictures of it on, it will be more indicative once the plant is growing and the light has context, but for now this will have to do.
My lux meter puts the spotlight at ~ 30K Lux @ ~ 2.5ft.

For the $17 it cost me, I couldn't be happier.

Beautiful. Thanks for the meter reading as well I really need to get one of those. I'm going to keep searching for all blues but if I can't find any I'll get 4 of the kind you have. Seems legit... thanks man

1/7/15: The little girl poked her neck out of the pellet. I moved her to the pot because I wanted to get her in there before her root went out the bottom of the pellet to avoid any damage/stress. I hope the cool coloration stays.

1/13/15: Stem is fully erect and pointing at the light, first set of leaves visible. Growth has been relatively slow, but nothing abnormal, probably just working on root growth right now. Trying to stay patient.
