http://www.cannabis-seeds-bank.co.uk/dinafem/dinafem-seeds-blue-hash/prod_46.html

Here's a run down of the system:

5 Gal Bucket
10 Inch Bucket Buddy Net Pot
1 4 Inch Bubble Disk
1 5 Inch Bubble Disk
2 Air Stones
1 Whisper Pump (not sure what type, two tube outlet.)
1 Sunleaf Pump
1 Ultrasonic Fogger

The Sunleaf pump powers the 5 inch airstone, and the whisper pump powers the 4 inch airstone on one tube, and the 2 other airstones on the other tube. The whisper pump doesnt provide near enough air for the 4 inch bubble disk, still bubbles but when you hook the sunleaf pump up to it bubblage doubles. Bottom line, the whisper pump is quiet and serves its purpose, but the Sunleaf pump kicks its ass.

Trying to stay true to the KISS principle (Keep It Simple Stupid). We shall see how the bubbleponics works out.:leaf:

As far as nutes go, I start nutes from the very beginning, Im not even sure that you could call them nutes but its whatever. Also should add that the plant was started in root riot starter cubes.

So here goes:

5gal bucket w/ 2.5 gal to allow room for fogger to do its thing underneath net pot.

Distilled Water w/ ppm of 4
Hygrozyme 10ml/gal 25ml
Cal Mag 10ml/gal 25ml
H202 5ml/gal 10ml

Ending PH 5.8
Ending PPM 745

PPM is a little high for such a small plant however the only contact it has with the nutes is through the fogger. I top water the plant with 250ml of distilled water every 2 days. I will be top watering until the roots are exposed below the net pot.

looks good dude im gona watch this one im. hey what brand lights are thoes?

They are 90 watt UFO LED's if you google it you'll see them.

I use them for both vegitative growth and flowering. Some people have really strong opinions on what light to use. In my opinion, the LED's are unmatched in veg but kind of lacking in flowering. I use them because they're easy on my wallet, very little heat, last much longer than any other light, and they dont require a ballast. However they can be bit pricey to buy upfront.

Plant is coming along. Grew from 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch the last day or so. Leaves are getting bigger but no roots yet. If you look close at the pics you'll the pest strip I have tucked in the bucket. Just want to be safe as I live with dogs and pest prevention is a must as they have a way of investigating things.

Been having some PH issues which I expected as Im only dealing with 2.5 gallons of water. So 9/18 everything got set up and I transplanted the plant into the 10inch net pot, PH was 5.8. On 9/20 the PH had jumped to 6.6. I adjusted it down to 5.5. On 9/21 PH jumped to 6.5. I adjusted it down to 5.0. Im thinking that the hygrozyme is responsible for the PH rise. This isnt really a huge concern as the plants roots are not in the water. Looking back, probably should have started with a lower PH.

Lastly, I have been dropping the lights over the past couple days. The lights are low enough now where the one isnt really needed. Cost vs. Benefit. As the pics show the single light sits about 6inchs from the bucket. I will also be adding a 5 gal resevoir to the system. Basically Im adding another bucket with a drain. I think the extra bucket will help with stabilizing the PH. In the long run, I dont want to be exposing the plants roots to light on a daily basis when I monitor the water level, ph, and ppm. Been contemplating whether to add a pump to the res just to make sure the water is moving.

Any thoughts on adding a pump?

Second set of leaves are out and about, but my girl pretty much looks the same.

Fogger disk finally went today, which sucks. But another is being delivered. My girl is going to have to survive without the fogger for atleast a couple days.

Also, ordered a sunleaves pump. This one is 400+GPH and is a four outlet[shown in the pic]. So I guess i'll add two more airstones with the additional tube.

I will also be purchasing another 5inch bubble disk. I got the 4inch one from SH Hydroponics [shown in the pic] and its just not cool how the disk consistently flips over. Just about every time I check the water (once a day), the disk is flipped. Its currently anchored down with 5 suction cups attached to the tubing. The 5 inch disk is anchored with nothing and sits flat. Im not gonna be playing flip the disk when the roots are exposed.

As far as adding a pump to res, Im a little skeptical. The issue is the hole that I would have to drill for the pump plug. It would have to be atleast a 1inch hole for just the plug. So we are looking at a 1 inch hole for a cord thats probably 1/8 diameter. That would definelty allow too much light into the res.

Still battling PH. Today when I checked, the PH was 6.1, so I adjusted down to 5. Again target range is 5-6, and at this rate Im going to have to re-up on the PH down. Hopefully, the addition of the res will greatly help stabilize the PH imbalance.

Will be adding the res with the next water change on 9/25. By then I should have the new air pump, bubble disk, and the replacement disk for the fogger.

For the few of you out there following, more pics to come prob either 9/25 or 9/26.

Plant is having some issues. With the fogger out of commission, the root system got a little to dry, or atleast thats my best guess. Looks like heat stress. The first set of leaves were completely yellow so they got clipped. I clip any leaf that has 75% or more damaged. So the leaves were yellow, and folded up. Its kinda tough to tell if it were heat stress or nute burn, but the roots werent exposed and the discoloration was more of a pale yellow discoloration rather than a brown/orange. So thats how I came to heat stress combined with an already dry root system. If you look at the pics above, you can see a slight yellowing. As Im thinking heat stress and dry roots, the corrective action was to raise the light and raise the water level of the res.

As of now, the top leaves are still mostly green and the roots have peaked out of the bottom of the container. Still have not received the pump or fogger parts. I have added the res and changed the water. Not that Im happy with the situation, but it should be interesting to see if the plant survives, if not well... theres bigger and better things in the other cab.

If anyone has any other ideas on what happened here, please feel free to post. Heat stress or nute burn?? Best corrective action??

Alright so I've got someone else thinking the same as me. So for now lets say that its heat stress and take the corrective action to resolve such a problem. Here's the post:

https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/247504-help-heat-stress-nute-burn.html

The light has been raised back up and the fogger disk just arrived about 20 min ago. I put that in and lowered the water back down to allow the fogger some room. New air pump has not arrived yet.

Keeping my fingers crossed my girl will survive.

Well its been about two days now and my girl is doing much better. New leaves are fat and have very very little discoloration. Keep in mind this is an indica grow... fat leaves are good.

So I guess I was right in diagnosing heat stress and raising the light up. In my own opinion, the signs of heat stress and nute burn are near identical. It was a tough call and big rep to c5rftw for helping me out. Deff wont be dropping the light that close until things cool down a little bit.

Concerning this grow, I recently added a pump to the res. I have been thinking about adding one but didnt want to drill that large of a hole for the plug. So what I did is pretty ghetto but whatever, if it works it works. So I put the pump in the res, fed the pump tube through the connecting tube into the other res where the plant sits. The pump tube is not fed into the net pot, just at the bottom of the bucket. To get around drilling the hole, I fed plug out the top of the res and set the lid losely on. I then covered the lid with a garbage bag and wrapped a bungee cord around the bag which is like halfway down the bucket. Pump runs for a half hour every four hours.

New pics prob Wedsnesday.

New air pump finally got here. Since, I need to drill another hole for the extra tube from the pump and re-tube some of the existing disks, Im gonna wait until the next water change, which is only tommorow.

Pics below show how the plant has recovered. Its probably safe to say that its made full recovery now. Growth was slow during the early part of this week, but after the leaves grew out, growth rate came back up to normal.

If I hadnt lost the first set of leaves, the plant would be about roughly 1.5x the size it is now. So in all reality the heat stress from the light being to close probably set me back a week or so. Suppose I should expect the unexpected in looking forward. I really doubt the heat stress will be the last of my problems in this grow. We shall see.

Been a little while since I posted updated pics. This website has kind of rubbed me the wrong way in the past week, with moderators giving infractions and neg rep for people who voice their own opinions and have the balls to stand up for themselves. Not to call them out, but the same rules should apply to everyone.

Anyway, over the past week nothing special has happened. Was dealing with a little droopiness during the week but it has been resolved. The droop was prob from overwatering as the water in the buckets was a little high. I adjusted accordingly and the droop was gone in a day or so.

Im using my own formula for the nutes. Its really nothing to complicated or special just an adjusted feeding schedule. I know this is listed out already, but Im using general hydroponics, hygrozyme, h202, and cal mag plus, with a base of distilled water.

In the next week I will either be fimming or topping the plant. Depends how I feel that day. Right now Im thinking probably top this week, and then FIMM next week or the week after depending on how my girl responds. I have never FIMMED or Topped a plant before so this should be interesting. I got the general theory of FIMMING and topping down, but if anyone has any tips or additional information please feel free to post it.
