Digital vs Magnetic HPS help

Looking to pick up an HPS soon. Been shopping around looking at prices and what not lately. Have seen these Apollo digital HPS systems. I've read in a few places about Interference from digital lights. Anyone ever have any problems with this Apollo brand? I live real close to neighbors and all that and don't want to waste money on a digital if they still cause tons of interference. I can get a magnetic HPS only problem is 400w is only thing in my price range but with digital 600w would be.

dude i have run mag for years with great results you can get into one complete 150 bucks 1000 watt MH or HPS switchable and be fixable i it ever failed Digi once there broke there GARBAGE

Yea I've had magnetic before in the past from HTG because there about an hr drive from me. Been a few years since I've grown. Just been looking into these digital ones and wanted to get people opinions. I know magnetic is easier to fix and can buy parts for.

bottom line what ever is easier for you dude digital may be more efficient but as for yields its all pretty much the same unless your comparing DE to mogel Then DE will be better

I'm cool with a magnetic one. I'm fine with just getting a 400w one. Was just intrigued by the digital ones and how they can be switched out dimmed Etc. But if they still give off that strong interference then I'll probably just stay away from digital. Unless things have changed these past few years.

Never had a problem with Digi's one cheap one just shit out after like 3 years more than paid for herself 1 of them is still kicking ass though been like 5 years but I don't have any neighbors so not sure about the interference shit I never had a problem and have had a few running for years no problems with interference.

. Magnetics do the job too not much difference just a little more heat and tiny bit more electricity. But I'd go no less than 600 watt 1,000 would be better.

Lotsa mis information about digital ballasts and RFI , all digi ballasts emit some amount of RFI but the only way they can cause your neighbors interference is if you have an open lead on your cable wiring .

Check all cable connections making sure their tight , any extra cable plugs on your tv or cable line splitters not in use will cause RFI to enter the cable system & cause problems with the interactive menues of neighbors tv sets , the cable company can track the RFI right to your home but its a simple fix .

No loose connections , no active cable wires not securely plugged into a tv , any extra cable inlets on tv's or unused spots on cable splitters should be filled with shorting plugs to block any RFI from entering the closed system , shorting plugs cost like 50 cents & can be bought off ebay or radio shack , RFI cannot enter a shielded cable wire or properly connected wiring , most people dont realize that extra cable inlet on their tv set marked antenna is where the RFI enters the system .

If you live close to HTG i reccomend getting their 600 watt digital ballast , i have over 30 of the htg digi 600's & they have all performed excellent for 7 yrs now with zero rfi fucking with the neighbors , htg digital ballasts are top of the line with the best no questions asked replacement policy , you get a full 5 yr guarantee with htg .

I would never dream of spending the extra cash on big name ballasts as they are all hype , i was buying from htg online till they opened a shop near Detroit now i go in person , htg inline fans are better than vortex as well .

Fuck all that heat from magnetics , get a htg digi 600 dimable ballast & be.done with it , their all 110 & 220 volt within the same ballast so all you gotta do is change power cords to run 220 volt & get more ballasts going on a single breaker .

Ive never had any rf interference with multiple lights running.
If getting a cheap brand make sure its fcc compliant and ul listed.

I run all apollo with no issues, in an apt setting

When i 1st set up the grow i had problems with rfi getting in the cable system thru the unused antenna inlet on my tv in the trimming & drying room , the rfi from all my lights took out the whole neighborhoods pay per view , the cable dude gave me a shorting plug & walla problem solved .

The next week i fried con ed's transformer on the pole down the street & took out the entire block , that bitch burned to a crisp , the new xformer handles all the power perdy good:lol:

Thank you very much. Did not know about the plugs etc. I use all Hdmi on tvs so I guess I'd have to plug everything from tv to box etc. I'm def buying from HTG I have in the past. Was just looking at other brand lights. I do like HTG because they are close and I like their warranties. As far as the 1000w someone brought up its about cost for me and my electric already runs 200.00 a month. So I don't want to go higher than 600w.

Hehe i blew 2 transformers when i first set up one of my growhouses in an older somewhat poor neighborhood. Im sure i wasnt the sole cause but i didnt help.
