I'm looking at a new lumatek digital ballast and i see different voltages 120 or 240 what is the difference and does it matter?

lol and there is your answer but in the use you can setup 240 but thats a different story. If your just wanting to plug it in then go standard 120. I will have a shipment of digital ballast coming in soon and the hydro site will be up soon still getting stock but if you need tents, ballasts, kool tubes,or ufo led let me know. www.greenpassions.org is the site coming soon

if your in the us most of your wall sockets are 120V the exceptions being the sockets for your washer/dryer, fridge, etc. it doesn't matter which one you use, they will both put out the same amount of light, but if you get the 240V make sure you have the appropriate socket to support it, you cant use a regular socket like you got in the bathroom or bedroom.

the advantages of a 240V ballast is that it will draw half the amperage that a 120V ballast does because P=IxV. this means the power (wattage)= current (amps) x potential load (voltage). you can see that if you keep the same wattage (the same light) that by going from 120V to 240V to keep the equation equal you have to take half the current. if you have lots of other equipment on the same socket 240V and tripping your breaker, it helps because everything will use half the current and wont trip the breaker. hope that makes some sense. im pretty high right now and seems like i cant think complete thoughts lol :D
