different lights for different stages of growth

buying my set up bit by bit, so this stage im buying lights.

iv read HID are best ? a close 2nd florescent?

metal halide ''MH''

high pressure sodium ''HPS''

im starting with seeds, so will start them off in rockwool . with just a little light ? how big would you surgest ?

then once they are 1/2'' tall add a 600 MH OR HPS?

any advice or a linky that i can read would be very greatful.

They say MH is best for veg...HPS is good for flowering...I have been using Sunmaster Warm Deluxe MH which is supposed to be good for both stages.

would it be ok to swap lights over ? i mean if i did want to use a MH to veg, then swap to a HPS to flower ?
