Hey folks so I seem to be on here every second day with an issue. Probably should have stuck to soil and not jumped in at hydro but hey ho live and learn, there's no going back for me now. Damn my stupidity but you've got to make mistake to learn.

So I'm having an issue with one of my babies and it might be another as one seems to be showing early signs of this. I have read that it could be a possibility of a few things and I am really looking for some expert advice. This is all before I've even had a chance to put them in my system!

Help need and thank you in advance

How old? What's your nute situation? Without any info I'd say you haven't been nuting at all, and maybe the plant is ready for some 1/4 strength? Those spots look like a cal/mag deficiency I had, and the light yellow-ish leaves might be a nitrogen deficiency...but honestly without more info this is just a guess based on what the plant looks like and what I've had in the past that looked similar.

Hi Krypton,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry I should have definitely provided more info at this point.

Plants were germinated 17 days ago.
Originally under a 125w cfl for 12 days.
Switched to 400w HPS dual spectrum light around 1.5 to 2ft above plants and have gradually moved closer using the hand test
Problems with heat at this point as the air temperature spike way above 30c (probably day 13)
Since then heat issues under control

Nutrients were fed around 1 week but only 1/10 as I read I should do this, then saw a lot saying don't nute until week 3 so just laid off of them.
I have given them Nutes today because I thought it might be a deficiency.

If it is a cal/mag deficiency what are the repercussions on the plants. Can the issue be rectified or is this little darling screwed?

If it's a slight deficiency at this point, you'll be fine. Once you start nuting, new growth will be healthy.

About 2-3 weeks is often the time to start mild-strength nutes. Some people wait until the plant shows a slight def before starting them, which would put you right in the realm of normalcy. So unless someone else weighs in, I'd say start 1/4 for a week or two, then up to half and see where you're at. Plants will always recover from a slight deficiency, but heavy nute burn can be a much bigger problem. So be cautious.

For heat, you might need an additional fan blowing cool air around the plants.

Hey krypton,
Thanks!! You've basically calmed down a rather agitated new grower. Thank you. It's all very new and when you see things that don't look quite right you to start to panic, so again thank you. For watering I've currently just been dipping the rock wool cubes into water as and when they feel light enough to require it. I am starting to get a mass of roots poking through the bottom but from videos I watched I thought they might be a bit short. They are currently around 5mm although their is quite an abundance of them. You think I should move them to the hydro now? I'm using NFT because it was cheap and I hear it can be quite effective. Thanks again krypton, really appreciate it.

Yeah, I think Hydro time. I use smaller cubes, and put mine in at about 5-7 days old, when they have a second/third set of leaves and about 1/2 inch root popping through the bottom. Yours are way beyond that! So I'd put them in hydro at 1/4 strength nutes now. Keep the lights at least 18 inches away and make sure the temp around the height of the leaves stays around 75 degrees F. Their growth should really take off!

Again thank you very much. Your posts have been very helpful. Really appreciate all your help. I'll get them in the hydro asap!
