Hey I have Canadian friends but you guys think your shit doesn’t stink.
They beat me to it with Ford.

I don’t think that and if it appears I’m rubbing your face in it, it was unintentional. You made a derogatory comment directed at Canadians and I responded with a tongue in cheek remark.

Having said that, I stand by my statement.

I wasn’t implying we don’t have stupid people in Canada. We even have trump supporters here, as crazy as that sounds.

My point was that if any candidate ran a divisive campaign like trump did in 2016, he or she would not get elected here.

We’ve had our share of bad leaders too, but nothing like trump.
You don't think you could have a populous Anti American candidate win?

Couple it with a minority female opponent.

Maybe now! :)

I honestly don’t believe Canadians would have elected trump. He would maybe have gotten some seats in Ontario, Quebec and Alberta but that’s about it. I realize it’s not a fair comparison as the systems are so different but I would say the popular vote margin in 2016 would have been broader in Canada (per capita).

Edit: I think it’s mainly because our political system is less divisive and polarizing. I know it hasn’t always been like that but the political environment in the US is a lot more toxic than it is here.

True enough. But maybe we would not have chosen Orban or Balsonero. Nationalists tend to be home grown.
