Deficiency, but which one? Photos!

Hey my plants are obviously having some issues. I'm thinking its a nitrogen deficiency but it's my first grow and I'm really unsure about spotting plant problems. I'd really appreciate a second opinion. These are some leaves I pulled off the bottom of my plants.

The ones towards the bottom are yellow but the leaves towards the middle are not as green as they should be.
I'm thinking nitrogen but the brown spots are throwing me off a bit! Does nitrogen deficiency come with brown spots?

Deficiency? Looks more like a deadficiency!

seriously it looks like they are very deprived. You should start slowly upping the feed. Post the whole plant to show its health better.

you don't give much info man but i'd bet your problem is ph related, ...test the ph of the nutrient solution you pour in and then test the ph of the runoff, if they aren't close to the same value then you have a problem.

Cool I'll see if I can take more pics tonight! I'm feeding with biobizz nutes (BioBloom, BioGrow, TopMax and RootJuice) according to their feeding chart. But having said that I tend to do a nutrient feed then the next watering will be just plain water.

I'm growing 7 Great White Sharks in AllMix soil. I feed basically whenever the top layer of soil has dried up which is usually every two or three days. Will check out the pH and try and get more pictures in a few hours! Temp is about 64 in the night and 77 in the day, humidity stays at about 60!

if it turns out your ph is higher in the runoff than the liquid you pour in then you have salt buildup and that may be caused by heavy feeding, i don't grow in soil anymore but when i did i fed only every third watering.

...one easy way to reduce the danger of salt buildup in your medium is to always water with 20% runoff, that way you are essentially flushing with each watering.

...if you train your brain to recognize the 'heft' of your plants, when they are dry and when they are wet, then all you'll need to do to know when your plants are thirsty is to lift them up, if they are light, they are thirsty.

...and i assume by 'night' you mean 'lights off'? ...oh, and 60% is a bit high but not drastically high, just do what you can to lower it a little and you should be fine in that regard.

Cheers bozo! So I checked the ph in the run off and its 6.2 which was lower than what I put into it! I checked on them just now and to be honest I didn't realise how bad the colouring was until I switched off the HPS to take photos! It was pretty shocking to see and heartbreaking! (Sorry they are all sideways I couldn't figure out how to rotate them!)

Same here I haven't used dirt in years. But it's a very good rule of thumb to start with ph. It's the proper balance of ph that allows nutes to be correctly up taken. Check ph like dude said above and see what your outcome is and adjust from there. Some say ph isn't important but I believe it is. Now organically I can see the plants talks to everything in medium.

So are you feeding every time the medium gets wet I mean with nutes because that may be the prob too much and locking out.

yeah, you look like you have a deficiency going on here and i'm not by any means an expert but i'd start by flushing them out.

...like i said, i'm no expert but it kinda looks like a lack of magnesium that is the problem and it could be that it's locked out because of a ph imbalance, marijuana uptakes different nutrients in different ph ranges, which is why a little fluctuation is good, ...what this means is that when the ph becomes too high or too low for a period of time it locks out certain nutrients and that causes many deficiency's, ..ph is VERY important.

...one thing you could try is epsom salts which is available at any drug store for medicinal use and so it is easy to find and cheap to buy.

...anyway, put like a 1/2 teaspoon into a gallon of ph'd water and then put some of that liquid into a spray bottle and lightly spray your plants, i say lightly too because i'm not at all certain that this is your problem and so you don't want to go too heavy with the epsom salts, ...hell, even if this works and you know it you still wouldn't want to over do it, all things in moderation is best, more is definately NOT always better.

Does it make any difference that the smaller plants (clones) are being kept in a separate tent under the same conditions but since theyve been potted they recieved very little nutes? Just some Root Excelurator I think twice in the last two weeks. Other than that they have just been fed plain water with a ph of about 7.2 but they seem to be heading down the same route as the flowering plants. Do you think maybe theres something in my water upsetting them? The Epsom salts you mentioned is that to specificaly give the plants a bit more magnesium? I'm going to try that tomorrow, how long do you think it will take to see an improvement?

Thanks for the advice!

So I mixed up some epsom salts and did a watering with no nutes as well as a foliar feed. For the watering I used 4 teaspoons per 10 litres and for the foliar feed I used the same solution but watered down to the equivalent of 2 teaspoons per 10 litres. That was 2 days ago and I've seen no real change in the bigger plants. The leaves are still just as yellow and I can't notice any difference at all. The clones seem to have had a growth spurt and I can see a difference in the rate they are growing but no difference in the colouring of the leaves. Are the leaves going to stay slightly yellow or does the fact they aren't changing mean its not a magnesium deficiency? HAve I not given them enough time? I was expecting them to go back to green but I'm not quite sure why I assumed the colouring would change. Any new leaves seem to be nice and green though. Is there anything else I can check or look for to make sure it was actually a mag def? Opinions would be appreciated!
