Trying to get creative to decarb without stinking up the house... What would happen if I just put herb in ball jars and threw into boiling water, just like canning. Wouldn't temp get up right around 212 inside???

Your doing this for edibles I assume and I really have not ever done it other than throw a half ounce into a snacknbake cake lol. Does it not go through the same process when actually baking it in what ever your baking? And yup temps will be at 212. I've always stored my pot in mason jars and after the cure I warm them up and lid them so they go into a slight vacuume.

I've seen a dozen methods for decarbing, no one has been a chemist however. So I've asked around to some chemists and got this answer from Magic Butter. Enclosing bud in the "turkey bag" helps to isolate odors as well. Don't open it until it comes out of the freezer

"DECARBOXYLATION

Preheat your oven to 250°F with an oven thermometer inside. If the thermometer reads above or below 250°F, adjust your oven setting accordingly until the temperature is a steady 250°.
Place your botanicals in a baking (rotisserie) bag or covered baking dish.
Close tightly; if using a baking bag, do not puncture.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove your container from the oven. Let it cool for about 2 minutes before placing it, unopened, in the freezer for 30 minutes. (This step is intended to preserve certain phytonutrients.)
When time is up, your sample is ready to use.

Chef’s Notes:

To maximize THC, bake at 250°F for 30 minutes.
To maximize CBD, bake at 275°F for 60 minutes.
To maximize CBN (e.g., for insomnia), bake at 300°F for 90 minutes.

As for the amount of material left behind after straining, you can use other items to strain such as a coffee filter or cheesecloth to have a more clarified final result." I had asked whether I could strain a second time with a coffee filter (Magic Butter gives you a straining bag with the machine) because my Tincture especially was too full of solids. I have also heard putting your fresh Tincture in the sun for an afternoon will oxidize off the chlorophyll, removing the green color and bad taste but M.B. was concerned about any exposure to the sun so I leave this one for discussion.
