Debit card fees, these greedy fucks

bump so people can see the word, check you banks some arent doing it, but a bunch are

Those loan sharks at the bankare getting me for another 35$ as an over draft fee on an 11$ over draft- so for 11$ I pay 46$

The best thing to do is go to another bank. BOA is the biggest rip off bank along with Chase. Just don't use them. All the other banks are holding back to see what happens.

Just as usual though, this exemplifies how the govt. does something without realizing the repercussions. Ethanol is another example, feeding food to your gas tank, demand goes up, prices go up.

This isn't exactly a new tactic, banks have been charging for using debit cards for a loooooong time.

I never understood overdraft fees, if I don't have the money just deny me. Plus if I dot have the money why would they think I have 30$ extra to give to them when I'm negative money.

i agree with you on B of A but chase is one of the few banks that doesn't charge for debit cards. And it is true that this isn't new and it won't stay the same for long. @ dam612 Changing banks is the perfect thing to do. You're not making a scene, youre just being smart with your money. It will probably take less than an hour of your time to change banks, and it'll end up saving you money as well. There has been talk of B of A closing it's doors, whomever buys them out will soon have more work than they can handle

I feel like ive never seen monthly fees for debit cards. Only if you like use the ATM too many time on an account- think they give you like 4 transactions per month on your checking, at least chase. I've never been charged just having my debit card

Not like this. They charged the vendor who decided to accept them. Since the government restricted them to $0.22 for debit fees, rather then the old $0.44 they have passed this profit loss onto the consumer. However a few economists found this will actually be more profitable for the banks then the previous system was.

What should really upset you is that many companies are now paying their employees via a debit card rather then with a check. This forces the employee to take out money from an ATM where they get hit with fees again. It also prevents them from going to their own account and withdrawing money since the money is stored on an account for only that debit card. Imagine it like this, the corporation who employs you is allowing you to keep your money in their account and withdraw only your paychecks worth. Guess who keeps the interest and pays the fees on that account? It isn't the corporation.

Wells Fargo charged me $10 for cancelling my monthly transfer from my checking into savings... how am I supposed to save when they are taking off the top, it's uncalled for.

My last "Big Bank",,,Tried to charge me $10 A month,,,Been a customer for a long time,,,Told them to kiss my ass,,,Credit union's are the way to go,,,But Mine does not allow over sea's transaction's.,,,Cash is king to me nowady's. The credit thing went bust when the economy collapsed IMO. Big Banks are greedy fucktard's and fucked us all IMO,,,One way or another. Credit union's are run by it's member's not wall street!

dude i know this is bullshit i cancelled it and told my bank to go fuck themeselves lol. I walked in and told them why where they going to charge that and they said becuase blah blah blah and i was like well im going to another fucking bank and i withdrew and my money and threw the card in her face and walked out.

Consider though the frickin taxes you pay. Fed,state, capital, local sales, gas, food, tanning, skyrocketing education, medical, food, bla-bla-bla yet we get such an uproar over 5$ ? Just an observation (aka Just sayin)

its the principal of them taking 5$ monthly bc they cant up their charges on credit cards. Yea 5$ doesnt seem like a lot person to person, but 60$ a year X however many debit card holders= a but load of money, even if you dont use the card. *in 2006 a swap gave chase access to 700,000 NEW customers in NY, NJ, and Indiana, as well as 338new branches-

lets take that low low ball fig- 60$x700,000 customers= 42million$ on one fee

Dam banks are assholes always out to make their cut times 10,they make money from you putting your money in their institution and then want to charge you for getting that money out not only that but will charge interest ot make more money of of the already taxed consumer,it never ends.

Its a scam. I don't use my debit card for any type of purchases anymore (online only which is what they will charge us for next).

Fuck paying $5 to my bank for buying something with my card. what a joke.

Now my checking is basically nothing more than a place to store money. I withdraw via ATM when i need cash for purchases. Its a pain in the ass but im damn sure gonna keep doing that over paying them to spend my money. fuck bofa.

I have a few different bank accounts though so that makes it a little bit better but its still crap.

Pretty soon they will charge you to withdraw/deposit from the ATM!
