can your plant die from cloning if its in the flowering stage?

Do you mean the mother? If so...no, unless you strip the whole thing.
The clones have same chance of living as when in veg, just takes a lot longer.

not unless you trim with a chain saw.

barely even stresses em out. usually encourages new growth.
