Day 7, Got spots, Any ideas, Pics

Got three little 7 day old sprouts under 3 42W CFLs in miracle grow potting mix. Two of the three have weird brown spots on them, the one closest to the intake fan and the one in the far corner middle one seems unaffected so far. The temp at soil level was reaching 90-95 I have since remedied that problem with the fan attatched to the lights. The spots just poped up today when I check em. To be totally honest I haven't been using a ph meter for my watering. I plan to fix that over the next few days since I got paid. So did I burn the plants or the ph hurtin em or what?

EVERYBODY, STOP USING MIRACLE GROW!!!!!!!!!!! Its too hot, i see all these pics of small plant probs all in miracle grow. I bet thats your prob. Get them OUT!

Dude.. umm I would let your potting mix dry out a bit.. and well maybe try using some florecent lights instead of that set up you got there. Put them under a shop light and let them dry out quite a bit between waterings. 3 weeks.. 24 hours of light...florecent tubes.. they will pull out of it. Dont panic on day 7! change up!

Hey man i have a verry similar set up going just with two seedlings and a clone mine are having spots too they look a little different they are more yellow and brown ish but mine are about 14 days along... im using miracle grow too... seems to be a bad choice but ill see how it goes atleast this go around. (any one have any warnings about transplanting?) any how i can show you pics but it would be interesting to see if you get the same looking stuff. take it easy and post some updated pica after a few days or let me know and ill showyou what mine are looking like.

If you transplant dont get all the soil off! just the extra soil around the rootball. get good soil, get some rhizotonic(helps alot with shock) and some clonex(not the gel)(helps promote roots) and youll be happy in the end.

JAH LOVE.

I hear mixed thing about Miracle Grow. I'm following the setup in the Buds for less book by SeeMoreBuds. He uses MG in the book but he uses a rockwool cube to start the seed in. I didn't. I just put that puppy in the dirt. I have read else were that the nuts burn baby plants but I've also heard of people using start to finish with good results. Right now I'm inclined to believe the "nute burn on sprouts" thing.

There are 3 42 watt CFLs on 'em and temps hover around 84-85 right now.
I'll post new pics later tonight.
Thanks for all the advice and words of love all.
Maji check my grow journal for regular updates but I'll post on this thread till there's some light at the end of the tunnel on this little prob.

go to your local greenhouse and ask for thier 'pro' mix.. the shit they use in thier production.. not the stuff they sell ont he shelf. I have had the best of luck with those types of products.

I transplanted them into Jiffy Pots then put the Jiffy pots in the soil hope this works. Heres some pics from today.

in my experience those jiffy pots are slightly acidic.. but at least you transplanted them. When in doubt.. TRANSPLANT

Seeds sprouted out of the ground on the 16th today is the 27th and they really don't look good. The tallest one is now the one with the most wilt:cry:, she started strong and I burned her good. I'll give em another day or two to see if they improve. Heres some pics my plants crying in pain.

Go To Hyponic Shop And Buy Foxfarm Soil They Are The Best . Using Mirco Gorw Soil Will Burn Your Plant That Why It Turning Yellow . Your Choking Your Plants .

Geeze ...

First, you don't need a PH meter, you need a Moisture Meter and they cost under 10 bucks.

Here's a great soil mix:

2 parts Schultz Potting Soil "Plus."
1 part Vermeculite.
1 part Perlite.
1 part worm castings.
1 SMALL handful of granulated dolimite lime per two gallons of soil mix.

Everything above is available at your local nursery.

For nutes use this:

Veg: Peter's "Jack's Classic" 20-20-20.

Flowering: Peter's Jack's Classic Blossom Booster." 10-30-20

Here's where to order the nutes via mail: Jack's Classic Plant Food from J.R. Peters, Inc., Fertilizer Manufacturer - Jacks Classic

There are enough nutes in the soil mixture to last you for the first 45 days of vegging. After that, use the Peter's ... but NEVER exceed 25% strength. If you follow the above advice and use the moisture meter to determine your watering needs, and don't do anything dumb like using PH up or PH down, or piss on your plants, or put sugar or mollasas in you soil ... or other really, really dumb things you read on pot sites, you will be growing prize plants that would be good shots for High Times magazine. You'll be picking pot-snob buds too.

Don't leave out any of the above ingredients either. Like the granulated lime will keep your PH in check for the entire grow. The Vermeculite will hold the proper amount of moisture. The Perlite will allow the soil mix to breathe. The worm castings will be heaven for the plants. The Jack's Classic is like it was developed for our favorite herb.

Good luck ...

Sorry it's been so long since I updated. I finally transplanted the remaining sprout and the new seed after I lost the other sprouts. There in some scott's top soil mixed with perlite 80/20. Hopefully they'll recover from the nute burn here's how they look today.
