Day 26 of flower should I prune? If so where and why? I have not done any clipping to this plant and it is very healthy. Will I get bigger buds if I prune?
Yes thats what I am thinking too, but some people say cut it and get the leaves out of the way so the bud sites can get more light. I'm thinking the plant needs its leaves.i wouldn't cut anything at all. But that's just me.
I did 4 weeks of veghow many days of veg?
Thanks ya I think I'll leave it alone. I did have two of the bottom leaves that were almost completely yellow I pinched those off.dont remove fan leaves unless its bottom one and they are yellowing and die off
if anything prune bottom bud sites, them who wont receive enough light to grow in to anything smokeable, so the plant can use all its energy and potential on its top buds, them close to the light, but I wouldn't bother with a nice small plant like yours under some CLFs you might stress it more then you do any good and in the end the different wont be that big, instead move some CLFs down and close to the lower bud sites ..

This is why you do canopy management.
There are a few reason why you should prune the bottom of the plant.
1) Pest management. Much easier to spray underside of leaves.
2) Air flow over soil
3) Easier to trim at the end
4) Light efficiency.
However, there are also some general rules of thumb I use. I like to trim up until the point the light actually penetrates. With HIDs that is about 2.5' down from the top and if the plant is shorter than 2.5' than you don't need to trim much if any. For CFLs/t5s generally I go 1'-1.5'. Side lighting can also help reduce the need to trim. I also never trim fan leaves or from the top down to 'uncover' buds.
Do not cut anything during the flowering stage.... training, cutting, pruning, lolly-popping ... whatever the fuck you want to call it should only be done in veg so the plant can recuperate and re-distribute the growth hormones to the remaining branches and nodes.
So you're saying I should cut the fan leaves? You sure about that? You should check out my grow.

I cut all of my under AND top growth. The top I cut off at day 35 of 12/12. World of difference it made. Fan leaves are good for two things in flower. one, blocking light to the buds and two, blocking light to the buds. Fan leaves don't feed bud growth, they are for nodular growth. Buds NEED light in flower. That's why undergrowth is so popcorn because people usually don't cut the leaves blocking them in fear it will upset the plant.

Ya its only 2ft 3in tall. The budsites in the middle and on the top right up the middle of the stalk are big, the ones on the lower most branches are smallThat is your opinion. Personally I have done both and say either way. If your plants are large prune off the bottom popcorn from having grown lbs and lbs of pot the popcorn sucks to smoke and trim! If its a small plant keep everything haha.
But I like to prune away excess as a personal choice to prevent pests and mould. I like to expose bud sites as well so I can st least pay attention to them.
Ya I have a ton of those smaller leaves along the stalk. My only concern with trimming those big leaves now is being 30 days into flower. Will the plant stop putting its energy into growing the buds and concentrate on healing where Ive cut? People seem to be divided on this issue with some being adamant about not cutting anything lolI always clear the lower parts of what i call sucker buds and any leaves that aren't getting direct light.
The upper side i usually end up with all the node fans gone, cause like mr2shim said they only block light, the main energy producers for the buds come from the smaller i guess you would say fan leaves that run oh limbs with the buds.
But i do scrog grows now, but even when i grew straight up plants i still took off the node fans and any fan covering bud site.
If someone says the budsites done need light then look at a bud thats been hid by a fan for a cpl wks. Pale green, and fluffy
I went ahead and cut off 3 or 4 big fan leaves. I cut the stem about halfway between the stalk and the leaf, totally removing the leaf. I noticed right away much more light getting to the bud sites. There are plenty of smaller green leaves around the bud sites. Either way I dont think it will hurt anything and I left the ones on the top three nodes. No not at all. I'm saying you can and it has been done and it doesn't make the plant go loonie and hermie. I'm merely providing contrast to the topic.
