put my dried buds in mason jars almost 2 weeks ago and thier very gooey and dank smelling. what am i looking for exactly in a good cure? ive been smokin on em now for about a few days and they have a very heavy dank taste, but could it be better? i open them once a day for about 2 to 3 hours. and the stems all break when i bend them, so thier good to be dried and over all i feel that everything about this first grow has been successful, i just want to know more about the curing process.

Your doing the right thing but at this point maybe don't let them stay open for 2-3 hours a day. At this point you should be opening them couple times a week. Enough moisture should have left by now so that you don't need to open every day. Moisture equals mold so thats why you open. The flavor should mellow some as the cure goes on.

i dry until the stem snaps, 1-2 weeks then move to jars. I open once a day for 4-5 days then open every few days then dont need to open much at all if any.

You first dry them for 1-2 weeks????? Not in my book... Maybe a week at the most. I dry them until they feel dry on the outside of the bud. Then i place them in a paper bag for about 3-4 days, opening the bag 1-2 times a day. Moveing the buds around just a little and checking close for mold. This allows the moisture that is in the center of the bud to move to towards the outside. Then i place them in the jars. Usually takes 5-7 days to dry them before I start curing. Never has taken more then 7 days, and that is during the winter with 68 degree temps in my home.

I never dry them long enough to have the stems snap, I end my curing once the stems will snap.

the main thing i didnt like about putting them in a paper bag is does a lot of the thc crystals rub off on the bag?

It is not a Shake and BAKE bag... You just place them in there. and lightly move them around once in a while. This helps get air to the places where the buds are pressed up together. At this point they need to loose more moisture, and a paper bag works nice.

this is helpful-thanks. i think i'll have to try it both ways...some people have recommended curing for a full 2 months! i think that's a bit rediculous....

the whole point of curing is to even the moistiture through out the bud. when you dry them the bud on the outside is dry but the inner bud still has alot moisture in it. so let them cure until they feel evenly dry.good luck and happy token!

Your right, my shit I just dried is 4 days in and Im moving to paper bags tonight. I was kinda stoned when I wrote that but my point was about the curing in mason jars. If he is 2 weeks in on the jars he should not still be having to leave the lid off a couple hours a day. I stand corrected.

i used an herb dryer and my weed was dried perfectly in 3-4 days. then cure for 2 weeks. of course the longer they cure the better theyll be.

same here except my weed dryer is a cardboard box with small slats cut in to allow air flow and a fan on outside to move the air.
