darkness when switching to flower?

Hey guys, looking for a little advice. I'm relatively new to growing.
Monday I'm flipping my room from veg to flower. I have a small room and am on a tight schedule to finish in exactly 8 1/2 weeks from monday. The strain I'm growing usually finishes flowering in 9 weeks.

I once read somewhere that by giving the plants 24 hours of darkness before switching to 12/12 can speed things up a little and shave of up to 1 week of flowering time.

Does anyone have advice on this? Or does anyone use this technique?

Thanks

I have never tried this but i can't help thinking if there were a consistent way to shave off a weeks worth of flowering time - we'd all do it.

but like i said - i've never tried it.

i have heard of it too and for all know it is beneficial. i just haven't seen those directions in any books or FAQs i've read.

yea Jorge Cervantes mentions it in Marijuana Horticulture. 36 hours of dark when you start flowering is suppose to make them show their sex sooner, if i remember correctly.

i've also head of doing this at the end of the life cycle, just before harvest. to give it like 36 hours darkness in the flush phase i guess. supposedly helps to promote fat bud growth during that time
