Dark period

Hello everyone! I have a question. What would be the optimum time to keep your plants in the dark? Some say 24hr some say 36hr some say 48hr, I even heard 72hr Now I'm patient and I want to do this right.

But there is so many proven studies. I also hear from a lot of reputable people that it doesn't work. and I also hear from reputable people that it does. I'm not sure what reputable people to believe. Lol If you were to keep your plants in the dark lets just say. how long would it be. and that's what I'll go with.

24hrs max
I have no time to let finished plants sit.
The next batch is usually outgrowing their space and I need to clean n fog
for the next round

I tried this myself on a run of white widow with one plant for 48 hours and just chopped the second. There was no noticeable increase in resin, potency, or flavor compared to plant 2.

My view on a darkness period is it would be colder to cause slight stress and use up whatever water was left in the plant/medium. (?)

So basically it's finishing off. So in my head the mechanics of this is that it produces that little bit more in the dark. The last spurt if you will

I would just got with 48 hours max. Its not gonna hurt the plant at all and it may be beneficial. Like I said I didn't notice a major difference in my two plants but its not gonna hurt anything to give it a shot. Happy growing!

I don't have time to bother with what could amount to a incredibly tiny difference. I mean after 65 days what is 48 hours really going to do?

I hear it increases the THC level dramatically

Sounds like you wont stop asking until everyone you ask says go dark... Your getting responses from people with experience in doing it (and they say it doesnt matter) and you would rather believe the faceless peeps that say go dark. Its all personal preference and maybe your grow op is slightly different than the rest of us. This reminds me of the flush or not flush debates.

Ok. Ok. I understand but it's not just the information I got on RIU. I have a 60 times magnification that fits on my iPhone I will take a still shot of one bud leave it for 48 hours and take another still shot if I see no difference with my own eyes I'll know. It's not that I don't believe you guys,it's just that it is a big debate. I guess I'm one of those guys who has to see it with my own eyes. thanks for all your advice. I really mean it.
Here's another newbie question
When I chop should I leave the fan leaves on when she'sdrying?

Again there is no should.
What I do is.
Remove large leaves
trim wet
hang.

I get ya on the debated topics.
You just want to know for yourself.
Only one way to do that.
Some of the major debates
work fine either way.

No problem man. I for one am just as flip floppety as you. You read ALL the info available and how do you know whats right or wrong? Personal Experience. The best you could do is a side by side. That's the ONLY way you'll know.

As for drying with fan leaves. I would like to know that too as I will be in that same boat within weeks.

Thank you for understanding.and the advice.
Another question.I have a couple of clones for the next run. They stand about 6 inches tall. I have two 300 W LEDs and one 600w. The real power consumption is only about 600 W Do I need that much lighting during veg. Or should I turn one of them off?

For clones? I dont think you need that much for vegging. From my understanding, its in flower that its important to pour on the light.

Im not knowledgeable on led but
If they are similar to hid you could prolly
run 300.

I cant be definitive though.

Next newbie question. They say a good rule of thumb is 1 gallon per foot of height. my question is what if you're super cropping? Is the rule of thumb the same?
