First the formalities. This being my first post id like to thank the lot of you awesome posters for what i have read on this site ive learned a great deal from you so thanks alot!
However, as alot of you know for a firsty its very difficult to distinguish problems that present with very similar symptoms.
As a disclaimer, this is my first grow, just doing 1 plant to see what the deal is with growin before i get in over my head.
1 plant thats been up out of ground for 2 weeks now exactly. 16 Days from seed.
Setup is as follows
Just one plant, 8 inch pot in organic soil. Soil has no information about nutrients on it so i dont expect theres any added. It is organic after all.
Soil components are 20% perlite, 10% sand, and the rest is soil i suppose....doesnt say what the rest is, says organic soil and forest decay
2 23 watt (100 equivalent) CFL Lights 6500k spectrum about 3.5-4 inches away
24/0 light schedule planning on doing this until it loses its sprout leaves then going 18/6
Temperature is regularly 77-80 degrees and humidity about 35-40%
Have fan blowing on it since it came up (stem is green and nice and strong and quite springy)
First week was watering about 15-20 ml every day with drinking water with a pH of 6.3
Second week watering has been about 40mls when i feel about an inch and a half down is dry. Usually been between 1 and 2 days for 2nd week watering with same drinking water of 6.3.
Ive read just today that drinking water has sodium added and from what ive read i feel like i may have a nutrient lockout due to the sodium in the water? Magnesium deficiency?
As you can see she started off a delicious green(can see a teeeeny bit of yellowing in the tip on first pic) and great leaf shape and whatnot, but getting further along its starting to show blackish tips and edges, and now the first 2 true leaves have yellowed and are very brittle (actually broke off the tip just touching it wth finger) I suppose i should mention the yellowing leaves are kind of turning into the shape of a canoe. New growth has a teeny touch of like black to the edges as well, and 2nd set of true leaves have some small yellowing at tip as well.
Still getting plenty of new growth and new chutes coming up like daily, but just concerned as to whats going on with my oldest leaves.
Any ideas? Im going to be switching to pH 7.0 tapwater to try to rule out the sodium issue as well. What shall i do folks? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!!
Please be gentle, at least im not using miracle grow
Sorry for picture quality, but the general gist of the problem should be pretty visible. You can pick up the dark tones on the edges of most of the newer growth and also see the change in green color and yellowing.
