Damaged Roots

My question is how much damage can the roots really take before they wont recover from a transplant? I had 3 plants in some crappy soil so I got some FFOF and transplanted. When I transplanted Im afraid I might have been a little to rough. So how long will it be before I will know if they are gonna live or die, a few days?

i fucking tripped when i was carrying a plant in a 7 gallon grow bag...
the grow bag shredded....and i was my myself....
so i took the top 2/3rds pf soil with the root ball and threw it in a bucket...
i was so pissed....it lost loads of roots...
but that plant is only like 3 days behind her sisters...so yeah it should be fine....

COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks guys that's the response I was looking for. You guys just made my day. I thought I killed 3 of my daughters and on Fathers Day too.

If my plants are pot bound when I transplant I prune the roots..4 one half inch deep verticle slices per Uncle Ben..they recover really fast and seem to like it

i also add a little rooting hormone to the soil.. rooting powder... either it works or my plants are just beasts

Yeah I thought of that but the only rooting hormone I have is gel. So I'll just put my trust into Super Thrive. I hear it works wonders. We shall see.

lots of people swear by superthrive. i use it but havent been growing long enough to tell a difference
