Daily Topping Off?

In the GrowFAQ I read " Top off daily with *half strength nutrients, alternating days topping up with plain water." Is it really necessary to top off daily? Wouldn't that be a waist of nutes or possibly over feeding your plants?

I wouldn't mind doing that. I'll do what ever it takes to keep my plants healthy.

-Thanks

I'm using GH Flora series. AT the moment I'm not using a meter. That's next on my list to get. I'll try and manage with not using a meter and see what happens.

Uses the Rollitup profile
With chemical nutrients, each time the plants are watered, the plants use more water than nutrients, so what's left in the res is stronger. Each day the res will continue to increase in ppm of nutrients, so you should top-off with plain water, to bring the res level back to original amount, and to keep the nute strength near it's original level.

Mr I Can Do That For Half
I have found that my plants are feeding and drinking pretty evenly. My water level dops but my ph stays the same and the ppm drops slightly.Lets say every 2 days I add maybe 2 gallons back in the res before I do i check my levels. the ph is the same. The ppm range is just a little lower and the water has dropped maybe 2 gallons. I tend to top off back to original depth check again and then maybe add some food to keep the ppm aroun 1200 at all times. I will change the res at day 14 which is the end of the veg stage and use fresh for the next stages of flowering. you need meters to do hydro or aero
