was wondering wtf happened. i heard shooter story then I hear a womans drove into the gates. I put two and two together and thought the po po were probably firing into the air scaring each other. oh and the woman lets not forget. meh. she couldve equally just been tazed. but these d.c. guys are nervous as hell clearly.

At least they didn't kill the baby....I wonder if they used an AR 15 .......Buck the white house is shooting at babies with possibly a military stye weapon....

That could be...I wasn't sure what all happened..If she was running over people that would set the tone for gun fire...At least the baby was all right...

Caught the tail end of this on the big screen at work the other day, what exactly all happened that this lady being referred to as a "DC Shooter"?
I mean, I'm reading articles and even on the news the other day its apparent that the only people who even had weapons, let alone fired, where the authorities.

Thursday's drama began around 2 p.m., when the woman steered a black Infiniti near the White House, a U.S. Secret Service source said. She drove up to a barrier at the 15th and E street checkpoint and was approached by Secret Service officers. She hurriedly made an erratic three-point turn, struck the barrier and backed into an officer before driving away, the source told CNN.

They are all synonymous, so the word used doesn't particularly matter so much, as you can (and did) ascertain who i am referring to with relative ease.
I see what your saying though, its just a sad and simple fact that our social structure has and for the foreseeable future will continue to provide disproportionate authority to the a select few, who SELDOM appropriate it JUSTLY.

Having worked in one of the federal buildings along that corridor, you all are insane. There aren't police with assault rifles standing around for kicks; there aren't barriers setup around every structure for aesthetic reasons; and access to the White House and Capitol aren't so strictly controlled just because someone felt like making them look totalitarian. The threats are very real, and all of the security personnel are trained to react to them.
If a person with schizophrenia tries to drive their car into two secure areas and refuses to stop, they're probably going to be shot dead. That's the end of it. The woman had the opportunity to stop at the White House--she didn't; the woman had the opportunity to keep her car stopped at the Capitol--she didn't; at that point the only conclusion by the police that wouldn't be incompetent is that she is intending to cause series harm and must immediately be neutralized before she can succeed.
Sad that this woman had schizophrenia? Sure. Sad that she endangered the life of her child for some crazy fantasy? Of course. Sad that her family and friends didn't do more to help her? That's what should be most damning. Sad that the police reacted to her presence in the kill zone after she refused to cooperate with them? Absolutely not. Blame this crazy, delusional woman for her own actions, not the police who protect politicians, federal employees, and the public.
