Online I can find CX? With no markings, 3070N markings and B3070N markings.

What does that indicate?

My go green led that is advertised as CXB3070 only shows 3070N

I just emailed crees customer service and asked about this to clear it up. I'll post a screenie of their response as soon as I get it which according to the auto response is on next Tuesday when she gets back into the office. Maybe you could call the toll free # @BM9AGS ?

Well....it does. The magnifier/lens is like a magnifying glass so remove it and we can place the GGL much closer to canopy! It's a thick clear lens much like a magnifying glass. It's flat on one side and convex on the other

It won't cover the 3x3 the same but less hot spots

Interesting. The original cxB's had the same markings as the cxA, in black not gold. When tested, their forward voltage was much lower than a cxa's and right in line with what the cxb data sheet states.
It didn't last very long and the B was put on and also made gold. Then shortly after that, they changed the cree logo to gold too.
Here is one of the first batches of cxb3070's and some still had the original markings, but when tested were good.

Honestly, it looks like a newer cxA rather than a cxB. But I haven't bought a cxA since months before cxB's came out, so I can't say for sure. It's not looking good IME. Fire it up and test the voltage...easy to do with the lens off and leads exposed.

Have you brought it up to the manufacturer?

side note: I'm guessing thermal adhesive was used to mount the cob.

Yeah.... I can't for the life of me find the leads to my voltmeter..... I know the unit pulls about 250 from the wall so either the drivers are super inefficient or or there's more than 50w pushed through them.

I have the packing slip that shows it shipped from China as those shifty rbg cob light by the company that makes them. So either GGL just rebuilds them with 3070s or they do in China and he resells them....which is most likely. Regardless at the time the price couldn't be beaten for a boxed 4 3070 light.

Take a side pic of the lens?

Might go to home Depot and pick up the thinnest they have of plexiglass glass optix. Cut out circles just slightly bigger than the case holes, dremmel a lip around it and fit it in to the spot so the cobs are covered still.

Well @BM9AGS in light of you saying the lenses were removable, I tried it. Mine definitely are NOT.
I TRIED and TRIED. Mine apparently is an older model and it's ALL ONE piece. This POS is goin back in the box...20160722_115829.jpg 20160722_115835.jpg 20160722_115915.jpg 20160722_120834.jpg

Huh. Interesting. Mine just fall out. Not glued in at all.

I think mines older model tho. Shipped August 19 from China.

Mines boxed up too....

Lol, removed from case and tipped over(gravity).
They were only held in by the case lighting holes.
