Just took my first 2 cuttings off my biggest plant, Can you just put them straight in soil without no root stimulator? I cut them at a 45 degree angel they are about 6-7 inch tall and I took them from the first branch off my my plant, Here's a few pics to!

Yes you can but you need to keep them moist. I just cut at a 45 and put them into a bottle of water. Works great for me.

Cheers for your reply back mate, can you put them into straight soil without putting them in water? That's what I done with these they where in water for around 10 minites but that's it, Then I put them straight into soil, Yeah I'm keeping them moist I've got a zip bag over them.

Yes you can and I've done it a long time ago. I was taught by a friend and I would just cut at a 45 dip them in cloning gel then stick them into dirt. Keep your soil moist and you can even mist them every now and then. After that it's just keeping the soil moist and around 2 weeks you should be rooted good and can back off to a more normal watering regimen.

Ive read that 24 hours of darkness after the cut is planted helps root development. I never did this and still did ok. I like the simplicity of using water though. I literally fill a 20oz water bottle with water and drop the stem down into the water. Nothing special no rooting hormone and I never have an issue. Once I see roots about an inch long I drop it into soil. Doesn't get any easier and works almost every single time. what you're doing can be done absolutely yes.

Lovely top stuff buddy that's what I wanted to hear! I was just getting a little worried that I'd wasted a few branches off my plant with me not using any root stimulant, I Wish I would off keep them in water until I seen the root now instead off cutting then straight into dirt lol I'll try your technique next time though I'll wait another few weeks once my mother has grew a bit more, Just didn't want to mess up with it been my first time taking a cutting I've either got cuttings off friends and grew them or just grown 10 auto's outside every summer here in the U.K lol We are having some brilliant wether to at the moment. I looked a lot on the net before taking cuttings and there is loads of different ways to do it, Makes it all the more confusing.

Just gotta try a method and stick with it. Biggest thing is don't let your medium dry out to much in those critical 10 to 14 days. If your cut looks decent after 2 weeks your golden.
