Cuttings and Cloning

Ive read a fare bit about cloning but i still have some quetions pretaining to my sativa (with 1 stem). So with cloning they say to cut the growing tip and plant that. Is the growing tip the top of the plant? And if it is, then does that mean i will only get one clone from my sativa?

Another question: Can you make clones from a branch? And what i mean with branch, is 1 small stem growing from the main stem with a big fan leaf at the end? If so, do i just cut it off at the node, or should i cut it in the middle in hopes that 2 new branches grow back?:leaf:

Thanks in advance for the help!

the growing tip means any of the branches that are growing, and it's not at the tip, a few nodes down. and you can take many many clones off any plant.

you can take any of the side branches as well...........

let me know if I didn't answer any of your questions fully.

Thanks for the reply! Ya, just the last question wasn't answered: do i just cut the side branch off at the node, or should i cut it off in the middle of the branch, half way between the node and the leaf, in hopes that 2 new branches grow back?:leaf:

you can cut it anywhere you want. if you cut it closer to the end, you'll get 2 branches that come out of the next node. if you cut it and the node of the main stem, you wont (probably) get another branch to grow there. so the answer is either one, however you want to do it.

Don't cut the top top to make a clone . . . get them from the lower branches, from which you can simply take the amount needed for cloning, ie: a couple/few nodes in OR the entire branch. You'd still want to take cutting(s) from the removed branch, not try and clone the entire thing, unless it's small.
I've never had any luck cloning the main growing tip. Just doesn't seem to work, for me anyway. Have tried many times.

I've done it plenty, and never lost a single clone (no matter where it came from).......... it really just depends on what he wants to do, people work differently, and cloning is not too specific that he can't figure out what he likes, and stick with that.

Thanks for the info! I will prolly be growing the clones during the winter under fluorecence- 4-6 CFL bulbs and 4 fluo. tubes. Is it worth it?
