Cutting roots

im running a double stack areo tote and my root at the bottom of the tote have become tangled so my question is can I just cut them apart what type of damage would or could happen thanx ???

you can top your roots.
some people recommend it for vigorous growth!

I would try to do as little damage as possible, but as long as you don't disturb the ball, you should cause minimal shock.
