Cutting main stem

Hey, i have a question. I have a mother plant that in spite of my best training efforts is outgrowing my allowed space for her. I am limited to a cabinet and she is getting too tall... my question is if i take a series of clones from the top of her and were to either break and/or cut off her main stem to shorten her what are the chances it would kill her. I don't want to lose her by any means but if i could knock her down, let her heal up and go from there that would be perfect. It's a fairly clean space and I've never had any issues with any fungus or bugs so that i think would be fine. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks

As Growdict says, you can always clone yourself a new mother, but I have chopped up some mothers pretty good to keep them short and they bounced right back. I usually flower them out when they've had time to recover, and I save one of the clones as my new mother.

wouldnt it make more sense to take clones then flower the mother out. start a new mother from the clones
This was my original thought but I've got more of a sog setup so while i could do this I'd prefer to keep the mother as is. It's worth noting that everything is in dwc which i failed to mention before so adding a second bucket to start another mother while making sure it makes it before flowering the first would require more pumps and supplies.

Like cindysid said you can cut her back and she will come right back sometimes my mom's n large pots with 60 tops all of a sudden become 1 ft tall 2 branch shorty's...and in a month back to the way she used to look again...cannabis is truly amazing and to me inspiring

You can basically remove most of the plant and not kill it.. As long as there is a start it will re-grow!

Thanks everybody i appreciate the quick response and helpful info. I was worried of losing the genetics. It's some fairly potent aurora indica
