This is where the leaders of the Third Reich got together to plan the Final Solution to the Jewish Question, commonly known as the Holocaust. The Wannsee Conference, Jan. 20, 1942. Berlin, Germany.
The building itself is ominous and overbearing, much like the Nazi stranglehold over Europe at the time, but looking at it now, knowing what went on there, the decisions that led to literally millions of people being systematically exterminated at the hands of an extreme ideology is terrifying. That this is possible in a world that claims to be civilized is a reminder that it isn't.
