could flir detect a 150W heat source through a brick or double brick wall?

no, they probably wouldnt even see your 1000w, they dont get outlines of ever hot thing in your house like people would have you believe, they mainly look for difference in heat, either an entire room glowing because its that much hotter than the rest of the house or they look for heat escaping from your house. so no, you need 2-3k of lights to show up i would think, beside if they are already looking at your house with flir your already busted, they dont randomly fly around scanning. I have a 400w hps, 150w hps, and 220w cfls all running at the same time and i have a police helicopter fly other my house atleast twice a day.

Yeah all the paranoid people wouldnt make it at my house, i guess im in their path to the police station. Plus there are a lot of random helicopters always around. There has been atleast 4 times when the police helicopter has been making circles with my house in its path, but its usually just looking for somebody. It came by about 5am the other day shinning it spot light actually hitting my brother window, he didnt even worry about it, but that actually would have scared the shit out of me, later it was on the news about catching a guy. I figure if they are looking at me it will be less obvious. I guess im right on the border for the ghetto.
