Correct me if i'm wrong

I disagree with some of this information. Do no start cheap. What's the point? You'll have to replace equipment in a year. Buy quality equipment your first time. Do not use a portable ac unit. They are ineffiecient an are better off in the trash. You can easily run 2 1000s in a 4x8 with an ac. I do agree that it is a kind if large setup to start with. Buy a dimmable 1000w ballast. Then u can dim to to 600 while learning. Crank it back to 1000 after.
 
i will do like you said and get the dimmable ballasts so i can start with 600's and easily boost up to 1000's later on. ill have to figure out exactly where the grow will be taking place and plan accordingly to figure out the temps, thank you guys

By dimming I hope you don't mean the one that say 50% 75% 100% because that is super inefficient and kills your bulb life . If you want a adjustable one get one that you can put in either a 400 600 1000 watt bulb Hope everything works out for the OP

Solis tek is the brand I use. They have both options.
