To answer your question, I voted for Bernie in the primary and Clinton in the general election. I have not a doubt that Clinton would have made a better president than Trump. I doubt that Bernie would have beaten Trump. This is all backward looking. Clinton will not be running in 2020 and Bernie will be too old. I'd prefer a younger person to represent the Democratic Party in 2020.

LOL. Sanders lost to Clinton by 3 million votes. A whopping large majority of open primaries went to Clinton. If there were some huge pool of independent or libertarian voters thirsting for Sanders, why didn't they show up for the primaries? The best answer to this question is - they don't exist. They are a fabrication of yours and other berners who, in order to keep up their delusions, need to pretend there is a large pool of previously unengaged radical leftists thirsting for large scale socialist change but for the lack of Bernie or other radical leftists.

Bernie isn't a revolutionary leftist. Not as an independent Senator who caucuses with Democrats and always has. Not as a candidate for the Democratic nomination. His policies were only slightly more to the left of the Democratic party mainstream. His stances on healthcare, minimum wage, campaign finance reform and especially on Israel and the middle east are not radical in the Democratic party. They actually are more mainstream than radical. The only talking point that could be considered radical is elimination of student debt. Hardly world shaking in scope, that one is. Couple the fact that he could not attract the African American and Latino vote because they could see he didn't really have an interest in their issues and it's clear that he wasn't really a very good candidate.

Bernie was painted as a socialist by right wingers. I didn't see him as a socialist at all. Not that socialism as practiced in Denmark and Sweden is unattractive to me. I would like to see many of their social programs enacted in the US.

Bernie was a good candidate but insufficient. He was good on economic and political reform policies and lacking in policies regarding issues that affect women and minorities. The reason Trump won was not because of his economic policies. He won because he attracted the majority vote of white people who liked his racist and sexist rhetoric. MAGA was never about economic change, MAGA was about restoring white male social dominance as imagined it was before the 1960's.
