I just got a 400 watt HPS with a cooltube reflector.

I guess my questions are what is the right/best way to set this up? I have a 4" desk fan that actally fits inside the open end....do I just pop it in there and let it suck the heat out..? or do I point it at the bulb etc.?? Do I need to add ducting to it?

Yes you need ducting . extractor fan = Ducting =cool tube =ducting = So the hot air just flows right out of your GR.......... h4l

yeah the purpose of the cooltube is so that the hot air from the bulb never goes into the grow room at all, so ducting and the fan are both mandatory for the purpose of the cooltube.

yea web walker always suck, not blow. Think about it, your gettin rid of the bad air. aim the vent up so the heat will rise through it. My temp doesent go up much at all

I have the hot air blowing in my room, because my ventilation system is the bomb ^^

this means i have fresh air every 10 secs. ;)

Capt, ure getto grow room is trippin me out, not to mention it looks like a fire hazard. Home depot needs to be ure best friend for a weekend. You got a beautiful space, now do it right, the carpentry involved should be pretty basic. USB at HD is $5 for a 4x8 sheet couple of those, some 2x4's, insulation (ure gonna need it in a month or so), a thirty dollar 6 inch 240cfm inline fan (look near plumbing stuff)(it's a little in the lnoisy side but you can put it in a box), some vent ducting (two different places in HD, check both you'll find a better price), an A/C off craig's list ($50)(or maybe rerouting a duct if already in the attic). Some 14/2 wire, a couple of outlets, mylar (I'm told you can substitute some types of gift wrap). <$300 you can turn that into one helluva little (safer) grow room. HD also sells activated carbon filter replacements for honeywell air filters for $10 (check out the DYI carbon filter on this site), again near the back wall of the store near the plumbing stuff (at least at the WA store). Don't forget the duct tape to seal up the cracks. Some cheap plastic tarps at wally world 6x8 $4.50 (or rubbermaid bins to sit planters in) for the floor (you really don't want your runoff f'n up you ceiling). GL and PM me if you have any specific Q's. The south is desperate for some stuff done right. Maybe you don't care, but use a little caution with identifying stuff (ie your zip code and the store you shop at). The seed store on the right side of sav hwy before hydro store has some jacks classic bloom fert (suggested in the grow faq) for <$10 and it will last a long long time. Good luck be safe. PS -How'd u like the 2000lbs they found last week?
