Could you put a 250w bulb in a cooltube if it states that the cool tube is 400watt?

Note: no ballast would be included.

Ive never seen a cool-tube listed with a specific wattage. The cord & socket that comes with it should easily attach to any 250W ballast.

I dont use 250w bulbs, but I imagine it uses the same socket as a 400w does.

Alot of them on ebay have it like that.. What about the cord that comes from the socket, are there any differences in that cord that would cause it to only be applicable to 250w ballasts or 400w ballasts?

You may have to get an adapter cord simply because the cord they supply you with the cool-tube could be designed for a different ballast. My buddy bought a hydrofarm cool-tube, but the cord wasn't meant to be used with his ballast. It was meant to be used with a hydrofarm ballast. Easy enough problem, we just removed the cord the cool-tube had and replaced it with the cord from the old reflector that came with his ballast.

I just looked on ebay, and all the cool-tubes I saw with Wattages, also are a complete system. While the one that are just a cool-tube just say 6", 4", etc. Are you sure you're reading the product description right? Got a link?
