conversion bulbs

Anyone here have any experience with hps or mh conversion bulbs. Hps bulbs that operate on mh ballast. Or mh bulbs that operate on hps ballast?

I'm using a conversion bulb. Works great. Slightly lower lumen output than the equivalent of a non conversion but but makes it up with spectrum.

I currently have a 1000w dimable hps ballast & using it on my flower tent. With an identical ballast could I dim a 1000w mh bulb.? Or should I save a few bucks and just get a normal hps ballast. The hps ballast just seems more versatile that's why I don't mention a mh ballast.

Most all digital ballasts are MH and HPS compatible. I run a conversion bulb because they don't make 600w MHs. I'm running a dimmable lumatek and have no problems dimming the conversion MH. You shouldn't have any problems either running a standard 1000w MH (no conversion needed) and still be able to dim it.
